BJP rejects inquiry panel report on NIT

JAMMU: The BJP has expressed shock over the report submitted by the Srinagar ADC on the NIT episode, terming the inquiry committee as biased for implicating non-local students and charging them with vitiating the atmosphere of the campus.

Jammu, April 30

The BJP has expressed shock over the report submitted by the Srinagar ADC on the NIT episode, terming the inquiry committee as biased for implicating non-local students and charging them with vitiating the atmosphere of the campus.

In a press statement, BJP spokesperson Virender Gupta said the inquiry committee did not include in its report the role of Kashmiri students who had provoked non-locals by raising anti-India and pro-Pakistan slogans while celebrating the Indian team’s defeat in the World T20 match.

He said the committee did not take cognisance of the lathicharge and use of teargas shells on peaceful non-local students holding a demonstration, not sparing even girl students, who were carrying the national flag and raising pro-India slogans. — TNS
