Boy planning to join militancy held, released

SRINAGAR: The J&K Police today claimed to have detained a boy from the old Srinagar city, who was planning to join a radical militant group.

Srinagar, December 12

The J&K Police today claimed to have detained a boy from the old Srinagar city, who was planning to join a radical militant group.

The boy was later handed over to the parents after his counselling. The police said the boy was detained in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Ganderbal SSP Fayaz Ahmed Lone said the boy from Rainawari in Srinagar was under scanner and was being tracked as he was in contact with some Pakistani militants, who were under surveillance.

“Acting on a tip-off, the Ganderbal police intercepted the boy, who was in touch with Pakistani militants on social media sites. He confessed that he intended to join Ansar Ghazwat ul-Hind,” Lone added. — TNS
