The BSF delegation comprising nine officers was led by DIG, Jammu sector, PS Dhiman, whereas the Pakistan delegation of 11 officers was led by Sector Commander, Sialkot, Punjab, Brigadier Amjad Hussain.

Giving details, the BSF spokesperson said that during the meeting day-to-day border management issues were discussed. “While reiterating the BSF’s commitment towards maintaining peace and tranquillity on the International Border, BSF officials sought Pakistan Rangers’ cooperation for the same, which was agreed by them,” he said.

The meeting concluded in a cordial atmosphere, the spokesperson added.

Before this meeting, the BSF and Pakistan Rangers had held a half-hour meeting on January 25 after the exchange of heavy shelling on the International Border. The meeting was held on the request of Pakistan Rangers.

These days the situation on the International Border is calm and no firing has been witnessed since January 21. Two BSF men were killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistan from January 17 to 19, whereas on January 3 one BSF man was killed in Pakistan sniper fire.
