Claims galore on Article 35A

As nationwide debate on Article 35A of the Constitution has started, self-proclaimed experts on Kashmir are staking claims that it was all due to their exclusive studies that countrywide discussions on this provision have begun.

As nationwide debate on Article 35A of the Constitution has started, self-proclaimed experts on Kashmir are staking claims that it was all due to their exclusive studies that countrywide discussions on this provision have begun. Recently, a seminar on Article 35A was held at Jammu, attended by members of the civil society. Interestingly, most of the speakers made every attempt to give an impression to the civil society that just they have the real authority on the Article. Instead of discussing the ‘pros and cons’ of the Article, speakers tried their best to impress the audience by saying that it was all due to their study that constitutional validity of the Article had been challenged in the apex court. Stone-throwing on LAC too

Stone-throwing seems to have received legitimacy in relations between India and China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The reported brawl and stone-throwing between Indian and Chinese troops in Ladakh has added yet another milestone on the boundary dispute between the two nations. Social media is rife with humour, calling upon the government to recruit a battalion of Kashmiri stone-throwers to teach Chinese a lesson. Sumit Hakhoo

Mehbooba’s silence on Twitter

CM Mehbooba Mufti opened her Twitter account over three years ago. However, the CM, who is known for speaking her mind, does not interact with her 23.5K followers on the social platform. After opening her account in July 2014, which was verified by Twitter, the CM didn’t tweet at all. She is also not following anyone. Interestingly, the PMO follows her. In contrast, former CM Omar Abdullah has 2.24M followers and tweets about every issue. In fact, the PDP has this grudge against Omar that he is more on Twitter and less on the ground. Majid Jahangir
