Normal life across Kashmir continued to remain paralysed for the 106th day of the current unrest amid shutdown called by the separatists and restrictions to maintain law and order, while incidents of clashes took place at a few places in the Valley today.

Strict restrictions were imposed in the Maisuma area here after protests against the alleged denial of medical facilities to the detained separatist leader, Mohammad Yasin Malik. The clashes that erupted in the area prompted the authorities to impose strict restrictions to avoid any law and order situation and prevent untoward incidents.

Clashes also took place in the Heff area of Shopian district after the residents protested the house-to-house searches launched by the police to nab those involved in the recent incidents of violence and creating public disorder. The residents took to streets that led to clashes with the police, prompting the police to lob teargas shells.

A building of the Higher Secondary School at Bugam in Kulgam district was set ablaze by some unidentified persons, reports said. The police have registered a case and started investigations.

Six shops were also gutted under mysterious circumstances near Jamia Masjid in Shopian town last night, causing heavy damage to the shop buildings and merchandise.

Meanwhile, around a dozen men from Kuthaad village in the Shangus area of Anantnag on Saturday protested within the premises of the DC office, Anantnag. They demanded an end to the ongoing shutdown and unrest..
