JAMMU: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, while reviewing the progress on the mega developmental projects in the state, today asked the executing agencies to speed up the work on these projects and ensure compliance of deadlines.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, while reviewing the progress on the mega developmental projects in the state, today asked the executing agencies to speed up the work on these projects and ensure compliance of deadlines.

The CM impressed upon the engineers to restrict to the scheduled deadlines and cost estimations of these projects. She said these mega projects had the potential to change the socio-economic profile of the state and asked the engineers and executors to give their best to the completion of these projects.

Mehbooba was informed that the process of the detailed project report (DPR) formulation for Valoo-Singhpora and Mughal Road tunnels had been started while the process of Domail-Katra, Jammu-Akhnoor and Chennani-Sudhmahadev road projects were already in progress and the alignments had been finalised.

In the PWD sector, the CM was informed that many of the key projects like Ganpat Bridge, Samba-Mansar Road, Satwari-Kunjwani Road, 50-km Bhaderwah-Chamba Road up to Himachal border and bridge at Shiva Dal, Doda, besides Rs 56-crore road project at Nikki Tawi were almost complete and would be thrown open this year.

In the Kashmir province, the meeting was informed that five bridges viz. Palapora Bridge; Soiteng Bridge; Presentation Convent Bridge on Jhelum, Bosipora; Ganderbal bridge; Ashmuji bridge in Kulgam and Pushwara bridge in Anantnag were almost complete and expected to be thrown open to public by this year-end.

Similarly, the meeting was informed that the work on 19-km Drang-Tosamaidan Road via Sinthan and 11-km Larkipora-Zaidoora Lisser was apace and expected to be completed next year. Meanwhile, the work on Magam-Beerwah, Ladoora-Achabal and Gingel-Lachipora roads has been started recently.

On the semi-ring road projects of Jammu and Srinagar cities, that recently got the Centre’s approval on the request of the CM, the meeting was informed that the land acquisition process was on and expected to be completed soon. The two projects are valuing at around Rs 3,700 crore and involve construction of 11 major bridges, 49 minor bridges and nine flyovers, besides other features.

The meeting was also informed that Zangli bypass road project in Kupwara, renovation of Zero Bridge in Srinagar and Vodhpora Bridge in Kupwara had been completed and thrown open to public.


‘Pandits inseparable part of Kashmiri society’

Jammu: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti accompanied by Minister for Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction and Disaster Management Abdul Rehman Veeri visited several camps of Kashmiri migrants here on Tuesday. The CM extended Shivratri greetings to the inhabitants of Purkhoo, Muthi, Nagrota and Buta Nagar camps, besides Jagti township. Interacting with the people, Mehbooba said Pandits were an inseparable part of the Kashmiri society and the inclusive ethos for which Kashmir had been known for ages was incomplete without them. She added that the Muslim brethren in the Valley were eagerly waiting for the return of Kashmiri Pandits to their native places. — TNS
