‘Langar’ body briefs Guv on yatra issues

A delegation of the Shri Amarnathji Barfani Langars Organisation, led by its president Vijay Thakur, called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan here today.

The delegation apprised the Governor of a number of issues relating to the management of the Amarnath yatra and raised concern about the overall safety and security of the pilgrims and service providers.

The Governor observed that the safety and security aspects of the pilgrimage were being regularly reviewed by the shrine board and he was personally securing regular reports from the state police. He stressed the importance of close cooperation between all stakeholders for making the yatra successful. He emphasised the need for protecting the environment in the yatra area. He said every langar organisation should take all required steps for maintaining hygienic conditions in and around its premises during the entire yatra and at the time of winding up of its services.

Director General of Police SP Vaid, Principal Secretary to the Governor and Chief Executive Officer of the shrine board Umang Narula, Principal Secretary, Home, RK Goyal and Additional Chief Executive Officer of the board Jitendra K Singh participated in the meeting.
