SRINAGAR: The Army today paid floral tributes to elite para commando Lance Naik Mohan Nath Goswami, killed in a gunfight in frontier Kupwara district on Thursday.

Srinagar, September 4

The Army today paid floral tributes to elite para commando Lance Naik Mohan Nath Goswami, killed in a gunfight in frontier Kupwara district on Thursday.

“In a solemn ceremony at the Badami Bagh Cantonment, the Army paid a befitting tribute with full military honours to the martyred solider, Lance Naik Mohan Nath Goswami, who laid down his life while fighting terrorists,” said a defence spokesman.

The spokesman said General Officer Commanding of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps Lt Gen Satish Kumar Dua and all ranks of the Corps laid wreaths on the slain soldier’s body as a mark of honour.

“Wreaths were also laid on behalf of the Army Chief and the Chief of the Northern Command,” he said.

A resident of Nainital in Uttarakhand, Lance Naik Goswami of the 9 Para Battalion was part of the Army team that on Thursday undertook a daylong operation in Handwara. Four Pakistani militants were also killed in the gunfight. — TNS
