CM urged to take up pay panel issue with PM

JAMMU: The National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed to the Chief Minister to take up the issue of implementing recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission with the Prime Minister.

Jammu, June 28

The National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed to the Chief Minister to take up the issue of implementing recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission with the Prime Minister.

NMC president Subash Shastri urged Mehbooba to vigorously take up the matter of financial grants with the Centre, so that Jammu and Kashmir becomes the first state in the country to provide benefits of revised salary and pension to its employees, along with the central government employees and pensioners.

Shastri hailed the recent decision of the state cabinet favouring pensioners and employees on superannuation, with the latest DA instalment to be calculated while finalising their pension claims. Shastri expressed hope that the benefits of Seventh Pay Commission would be available without much struggle as has been the norm with previous governments. He further appealed to her to increase medical allowance to Rs 2,000 per month as the present amount of Rs 300 was highly insufficient for the elderly.

He also urged the Chief Minister to clear all pending issues relating to regularisation of 61,000 daily wage workers. These issues are likely to have a bearing on upcoming local bodies elections, he added. Rajan Babu Khajuria, BS Jamwal, Sunil Kochhar, Ragu Pal, Satinder Kumar, Darshan Bala, Janto Ram, and Ashok Kumar were also present on the occasion. — TNS
