Congress: Book ‘cow vigilantes’ under PSA

JAMMU: The Congress today condemned the attack on a nomad family in Reasi by alleged cow vigilantes and demanded that they be booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

Jammu, April 26

The Congress today condemned the attack on a nomad family in Reasi by alleged cow vigilantes and demanded that they be booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

Addressing a press conference, Choudhary Shah Mohammad and Shahnawaz Choudhary, general secretaries of the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, flayed the state government’s failure to protect citizens.

They alleged police personnel facilitated the attack on the nomad family by becoming mute spectators. The leaders appealed to the citizens to maintain communal harmony.

“The situation has become alarming after the coalition government has come to power. Their style of politics will damage the basic fabric of society and has created mistrust among the people,” they said. — TNS
