Days after Mirwaiz Umar Farooq supported the four-point formula as a possible solution to the Kashmir issue, his counterpart Syed Ali Geelani said separatist leaders should desist from pleading out-of-the-box solutions.
Geelani, who heads a faction of separatist amalgam Hurriyat Conference, said the United Nations resolutions form the “basics and guarantee the peaceful and amicable solution of (Kashmir) issue as per aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir”. He described “options other than UN resolutions distrustful”.
“Leaders must desist from supporting or pleading other choices as they won’t help contain political uncertainty in the region. It is not proper to mention other out-of-the-box options or solutions,” Geelani said in a statement today.
