Jammu, April 26

The work on the multi-level car parking-cum-commercial complex at the bus stand here today was halted for six hours following a protest by labourers over non-payment of dues by the construction company. They resumed the work after company officials assured them of payment by tomorrow.

However, planning engineer Nitin Gupta from Shahpoorji Pallonji & Co. Pvt Ltd, Mumbai, denied such resentment, saying “All is well and work is in progress smoothly”. Despite repeated attempts, Project Manager Saroj Kumar Jha could not be contacted. — TNS
