Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday asked the executing agencies to strictly comply with the project timelines and redouble their resource mobilisation.

The Chief Minister said this while reviewing the pace of work on key developmental projects of the Jammu province at a high-level meeting of officers here on Sunday.

The projects encompass infrastructure, power supply, drinking water, sewerage, health and allied sectors.

Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta was also present at the meeting.

The CM reviewed the pace of work on the ambitious Rs 1,381 crore AIIMS project at Vijaypur. She was informed that the construction of flood protection works along the Devak, four-lane approach road and water supply scheme for AIIMS had been started at a cost of Rs 57 crore.

On the Jammu ring road project, the Chief Minister was informed that the Rs 1,891-crore project would start from Raya Morh and end at the Nagrota bypass. The 57-km-long road project involves acquisition of 6,057 kanals. Of this, 5,958 kanals have been handed over to the project executing agencies and work has been started on a 4,000-kanal stretch, the Chief Minister was informed.

On the four-laning of the Jammu-Akhnoor road, Mehbooba was told that the Rs 804-crore projects involved acquisition of 1,534 kanals of which more than 1,450 kanals had been acquired and handed over to project executing agency. She was told the tenders had also been floated. The work on the project is expected to start next month, she was informed.

The meeting was informed that two hospitals of 50 beds each were coming up at Kot Bhalwal and Gangyal at a total cost of Rs 43 crore. She was told that the Gangyal hospital was expected to be operational by July this year while 50 per cent of the work on the Kot Bhalwal hospital had been completed.

The Rs 150-crore new legislature complex in Jammu is expected to be operational by January next year, the meeting was informed.

The meeting was informed that the work on the Rs 44-crore additional block of Government Dental College, Jammu, was expected to be completed by May next year. Around 90 per cent of the work on the Rs 51-crore Satwari-Kunjwani road has been completed, the meeting was told.

Mehbooba was informed that the work on Rs 151-crore project of laying of the sewerage network in the city was in its advanced stage and was likely to be completed by July this year.

The CM stressed time-bound completion of drinking water and power supply schemes so that people did not face any difficulty, particularly during the summer months.

The Chief Minister was informed that 27 projects under AMRUT had been taken up at Rs 206 crore involving creation of green spaces, drainage, sewerage and urban transport.

The Rs 24-crore project of installation of intelligent traffic light system in the city is in full swing and it will be fully functional by July this year, the meeting was informed.

She expressed concern over the slow pace of execution of R-APDRP in Jammu and directed clearance of bottlenecks for the smooth completion of the scheme.

The meeting was told that under the Rs 622-crore power restructuring project, the capacity of 25 out of 27 receiving stations had been improved, 995 km of 1,307 km low-tension line had been replaced by AB cable and 21,441 out of 27,252 meters had also been replaced.

In the tourism sector, Mehbooba was informed that 70 per cent progress had been achieved on the Suchetgarh project which would be ready by March 2019. She was told that the Rs 400-crore Tawi riverfront project was about to be started as tenders for the first phase had been floated.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the finalisation of sites for street vendors and availability of facilities such as lighting, drinking water and sanitation at these places. She directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation to procure 40 more sewage carriers and construct more public toilets in the city.
