Cong terms Naqvi’s comment on beef ban unfortunate

SRINAGAR: The Congress today termed senior BJP leader and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s remarks on beef ban “unfortunate”.

Srinagar, May 23

The Congress today termed senior BJP leader and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s remarks on beef ban “unfortunate”.

“It (comments by Naqvi) is unfortunate…,” senior Congress leader and party spokesperson Meem Afzal told the reporters when asked about his stand on the issue.

Afzal, however, said: “Muslims should respect the religious sentiments of other communities.”

Naqvi while justifying the ban on cow slaughter had asked all those who want to eat beef to go to Pakistan.

The senior Congress leader, meanwhile, dubbed Narendra Modi-led BJP government a failure. “Modi sarkar is indulging in an unforgivable game of compromising national interest and national security.”

Afzal also said the Congress not only favours talks with Pakistan and separatists, but also the elected representatives of the J&K to resolve all the pending issues. — TNS
