Cop among 4 held for drug peddling

JAMMU: Four alleged drug peddlers, including a police constable, were arrested in separate operations, a senior police officer said on Tuesday.

Four alleged drug peddlers, including a police constable, were arrested in separate operations, a senior police officer said on Tuesday.

Head Constable Fida Hussain, a resident of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, was arrested during vehicle checking at Gandhi Nagar and 600 gm of heroin, worth lakhs of rupees in the international market, was seized from his possession, Superintendent of Police (SP), Jammu South, Sandeep Chaudhary said. In a separate operation, Narender Kumar, alias Tanchi, a resident of RS Pura, was also arrested from the Gandhi Nagar area and 60 gm of heroin was recovered from him, the officer added. In another operation, two residents of Uttar Pradesh, namely Dinesh Kumar and Sham Ji Mali, were arrested after 3.5 kg of cannabis was recovered from their possession here, the SP added. — PTI
