Srinagar, March 21
The Budgam police on Wednesday said they conducted searches at three locations in nearby Anantnag and Pulwama districts and recovered incriminating material.
“On the strength of the search warrants, the Budgam police conducted searches in Samboora and Bijbehara,” a police spokesman said in statement. The spokesman said searches were part of a continued investigation into a “sensitive case” registered in Budgam. He said the search warrants were obtained from the court before the searches were conducted. He, however, did not disclose the nature of the case but said the police in Budgam had recently cracked a case of the killing of a policeman. The policeman was on guard duty at a shrine when he was shot dead in January.
The police last week said six persons had hatched a conspiracy to snatch the rifle of the policeman and five of them, all residents of Pulwama district, had been arrested. The police said three locations in Bijbehara and Samboora were searched. “The assistance of the Anantnag police and Awantipora police were taken in the searches, besides help from the independent witnesses,” the spokesman said. The spokesman said incriminating material was recovered during the searches and further investigation was on. — TNS
