CRPF sends state football players on ‘Bharat darshan’

SRINAGAR: Around 36 players from the winning and runner-up teams of the CRPF Football Cup- 2017 on Tuesday left for a ‘Bharat darshan’ tour.

Around 36 players from the winning and runner-up teams of the CRPF Football Cup- 2017 on Tuesday left for a ‘Bharat darshan’ tour.

The tour was flagged by Inspector General, CRPF, Srinagar sector, Ravi Deep Singh Sahi from the Srinagar airport. Under its civic action programme in 2017, the CRPF Football Cup was organised by the Srinagar sector of the CRPF. As a part of it, district-level football tournaments were conducted in Budgam, Ganderbal and Srinagar districts in November and December. In Budgam district, 16 teams participated in the tournament and Sahin Sheikhpora Football Club was the winner and Khumani FC was the runner-up.

CRPF spokesman Rajesh Yadav said as a part of the prize package, it was also announced that the winning and runner-up teams of the all three districts will be sent for the ‘Bharat darshan’ tours. “On Tuesday, two teams from Budgam district along with four representatives from the CRPF were sent to Delhi by an Air Asia flight. During the seven-day tour, they will visit Delhi, Jaipur, Ajmer and Agra,” Yadav said. — TNS
