After Rajouri resident Mohammed Yousaf was killed in a road accident in Kuwait on December 8, the Indian Embassy has assured his family members that it will help them in bringing back his body to India.

The assurance came after the victim’s family members sought the help of Minister for Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Choudhary Zulfikar Ali who later approached Union Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj. Acting swiftly, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) contacted the Indian Embassy in Kuwait to help the family.

In response to the MEA directive, Raj Gopal, an official at the embassy, informed Zulfikar Ali that the embassy had already issued an authorisation certificate to a cousin of the deceased for bringing back the body.

“However, the cause of death is under investigation and the Kuwait authorities are yet to issue a death certificate,” said Raj Gopal.
