JAMMU: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday released cash assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of Maqbool Saahil, the journalist and author who passed away two days ago.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday released cash assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of Maqbool Saahil, the journalist and author who passed away two days ago.

The Chief Minister recalled the contribution of Saahil towards preserving and promoting Pahari art and literature, besides his role in strengthening local journalism in the state.

Meanwhile, several legislators on Friday met the Chief Minister here and apprised her of the pace of development in their constituencies. They discussed with her the problems that were coming in the way of efficient execution of developmental projects and welfare schemes in their areas.

The legislators who met the Chief Minister included Asgar Karbalai, Vikar Rasool, Muhammad Khalil Band, DS Parihar, Raja Manzoor, Noor Muhammad Sheikh, Choudhary Qamar Hussain and Surinder Choudhary. Mehbooba assured the legislators that she would look into the issues raised by them.

The newly appointed Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Leh, Dorjay Mutup also called on the Chief Minister. During the meeting, the CEC raised many issues, including enhancement of the annual plan allocation, creation of Arabic and Bodhi teacher posts in the district and development of infrastructure to attract more tourists. The Chief Minister assured the CEC that the issues raised by him would be addressed.
