Minister for Revenue Abdul Rehman Veeri said today that committed efforts were needed for the timely disposal of revenue-related cases.

“People have high expectations from the department and the action taken in this regard will help deliver justice in time,” Veeri said while addressing a conference of revenue officials of the Jammu division here today.

During the conference, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, gave an overview of all districts and the progress of each district under various revenue activities.

It was informed that during 2017-18, four posts of subdivisional magistrate (SDM) in the Jammu division had been upgraded to the post of Additional Deputy Commissioner.

Initiating the conference, the minister sought report on the decisions taken during the district-level conferences and performance made under each activity.

Detailed discussions were held on the status of various activities being carried out in districts, including writing of ‘jamabandi’, attestation of mutations, eviction of state/kacharai land, land acquisition, disposal of revenue cases, issuance of certificates, public grievances camps held and other related activities.

Discussing the process of writing of jamabandi district wise, the minister was informed that SDMs had been asked to personally monitor the progress on weekly basis.

Veeri asked the officials to adopt a calculated approach for better performance and clear all pending cases. He said SDMs had now been given revenue powers, so that they could contribute to routine works of the department.

“The assistant commissioners (Revenue) and SDMs also need to monitor the revenue business in their respective areas and convene fortnightly meetings to review the progress,” he said.

With regard to the attestations of pending mutations, Veeri stressed clearing pendency at the earliest and reviewed the status of mutations attested in the last one year. He sought reasons for the delay in clearing the cases and asked the officials concerned to expedite the process.
