Jammu, February 19

Nagrota MLA and NC provincial president Devender Singh Rana today called for evolving a mechanism for monitoring and evaluating newer initiatives in education, especially at the implementation stage.

Rana was reviewing the quality support programme (QSP), introduced by the renowned Bharti Foundation in 15 schools of the Nagrota constituency.

Lauding the devotion and dedication with which the programme was being implemented, the MLA urged the foundation to put in place a monitoring system to assess the progress.

“So far, the implementation of the QSP has been highly encouraging and instils confidence in us to have more outreach in another phase for larger benefit of the student community,” Rana said while appreciating the presentation given by Project Head of the Bharti Foundation Anil Bhat.

Rana was also briefed that since the inception of programme in the constituency, apart from imparting quality education, various extra-curricular activities were carried out with a view to get best of the students. He was told that a comprehensive computer training programme was also organised by the foundation.

He expressed satisfaction over the academic odyssey of the foundation and suggested for holding an inter-school girls kho-kho competition. He also called for holding boys and girls cricket tournaments.

Saying the constituency did not lack talent, he said, “The only need is to identify and sharpen it by good coaching.”

Rana also assured the sponsors that 15 laptops would be provided to the schools currently under the implementation of QSP. He hailed the initiative and hoped that more schools across the constituency would be covered under the programme. — TNS
