Ensure speedy delivery of services, secretaries told

SRINAGAR: On his first visit to the Civil Secretariat after the Governor’s Rule in the state, Governor NN Vohra held a meeting with all administrative secretaries and senior police and Forest Service officers here on Wednesday.

On his first visit to the Civil Secretariat after the Governor’s Rule in the state, Governor NN Vohra held a meeting with all administrative secretaries and senior police and Forest Service officers here on Wednesday.

He directed the administrative secretaries and the DGP to ensure that all government functionaries attended office and directed that their presence be monitored through the biometric attendance system daily. He also directed the administrative secretaries to personally review and ensure prompt and efficient delivery of various public services to the people of the state. He said complaints regarding delays, irregularities and corruption must be dealt with sternly.

The Governor asked them to send him reports regarding the progress of Prime Minister’s Development Programmes, 2015, causes of delay in the enactment of state legislation on the analogy of the Central Disability Act, 2016, reasons for failure in the implementation of the required measures for the conservation and cleanliness of the Dal Lake, implementation status of all flagship Central schemes, status of bunker construction in villages along the IB and LoC, timely payment of relief to the victims of border firing at the IB and LoC, status of preparations for holding panchayat and municipal elections, position on the stocking and supply of food and other essential commodities by the Food and Civil Supplies Department, status of the annual performance reports and filing of the annual property returns by the state government officers, implementation status of the LED bulbs distribution all over the state for securing economy in the use of electricity, position regarding the compassionate appointment cases under SRO-43, implementation status of the Non-Functional (Monetary) Scheme for KAS officers, action taken with regard to the payment of salaries and issues faced by the SSA teachers.

The Governor asked the Chief Secretary to prepare by Thursday department-wise list of all pending cases and forward the same to him with his remarks regarding the reasons for delay. He asked the Chief Secretary to ensure that every important matter was timely disposed of and all cases that required higher level approvals were sent to the Governor.

Vohra directed the administrative secretaries to ensure timely utilisation of all available resources, particularly the funds available under the state plan and various centrally sponsored schemes. Earlier, on arrival at the Civil Secretariat, the Governor was received by BB Vyas, Chief Secretary; SP Vaid, DGP; and RK Goyal, Principal Secretary, Home. The Governor was accompanied by Umang Narula, Principal Secretary to Governor.
