Jammu, January 28

The J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organised the All India Urdu Mushaira at the Jammu Club.

Poets from all corners of the country participated in the event. Renowned poets, namely Farooq Nazki, Arsh Sehbai and Asghar Velorvi, sat on the stage.

In his presidential address, Farooq Nazki appreciated the efforts of the academy in promoting art, culture and language of the state. Haroon Rashid, secretary of the JKAACL, said the All India Urdu Mushaira is a regular activity and is organised every year in connection with the Republic Day celebrations.

He added that the aim to organise it was to have interaction of local poets with poets of the national repute so that they could know the literary values being adopted in their literary pursuits.

Dr Anwar Mirza, overall in charge of the programme, conducted the proceedings and also presented the vote of thanks.
