JAMMU: Prominent social figure and former bureaucrat Sarup Singh Choudhary passed away after a long battle with cancer in Canada on Friday evening.

Prominent social figure and former bureaucrat Sarup Singh Choudhary passed away after a long battle with cancer in Canada on Friday evening. He was 85.

He served in various capacities in the state government and was a pioneer in land demarcation. He was the Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Director, Social Welfare, and the Director, Land Records, in the 1980s.

Sarup Singh was a prominent figure in the social circles of Jammu and Kashmir and was known for his humble nature. He is survived by his daughter Binoo Joshi and two sons, Chanderbir Singh Choudhary and Vikram Choudhary.
