JAMMU: Adtiya Bhanu, a ghazal singer, has been selected by Star Plus for its reality show ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’, which will be aired in May.

Adtiya Bhanu, a ghazal singer, has been selected by Star Plus for its reality show ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’, which will be aired in May.

A disciple of Ustad Sakhawat Hussain Khan of Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana, 24-year-old Aditya of Roopnagar, Jammu, took to singing at the age of four.

Masters in Indian classical music from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya , Chhattisgarh, Aditya, since his days in Army Public School, Satwari Cantt, excelled in singing. He has been awarded ‘Sur Sangam’ awards by various organisations at the state and national level.

Talking to The Tribune, Aditya said singing was an innate quality in him and Talat Mahmood, Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali and Jagjit Singh were his ideals. “Under the tutelage of my guru, I matured as a ghazal singer and I am happy I have been chosen for the TV programme,” said an elated Aditya.

Having performed in Mumbai, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, Aditya has to his credit a national award for ghazal from the All India Radio music competition 2014. He has also been awarded fellowship from the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training, New Delhi.
