Give security to Amarnath pilgrims, govt urged

JAMMU: The Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today demanded action against Hurriyat Conference leaders who were allegedly inciting violence against the Army.

Jammu, June 23

The Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today demanded action against Hurriyat Conference leaders who were allegedly inciting violence against the Army.

It also asked the state government to provide security to pilgrims during the upcoming Amarnath yatra.

Addressing a press conference, organisation president Sunil Dimple expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in Kashmir and the brutal killing of two Army soldiers by Pakistani forces.

“It is very unfortunate that Pakistan is killing our soldiers on the LoC while terror supporters have killed a police officer in Srinagar. The PDP-BJP coalition government has totally failed to control the situation,” said Dimple. He urged the state and Central governments to ensure that there was total peace during the Amarnath yatra as every year, separatist elements try to disturb the pilgrimage. “Lakhs of people will visit the Amarnath shrine and the government should take effective steps to provide security to them,” he said. — TNS
