Governor briefed on IT assessment

JAMMU: Principal Commissioner, Income Tax, J&K, Sangeeta Gupta called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan in Jammu today.

Principal Commissioner, Income Tax, J&K, Sangeeta Gupta called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan in Jammu today.

Gupta briefed the Governor about issues related to the assessment and collection of income tax in the state, monitoring tax evasion, generating information about the defaulters and high value transactions, said a Raj Bhawan spokesperson.

She also briefed the Governor about the functioning of the Aayakar Seva Kendras in J&K and their utility in redressing the grievances of the tax payers.

The Governor complimented Gupta on the initiatives taken by her after taking over in J&K, especially with regard to the enlargement of the tax base.

It was noted that unlike other states, J&K would get back benefit of Rs 125 against every Rs 100 of tax collected.
