During inspection of some buildings under construction, Vohra asked the CEO to ensure speedy completion of all upcoming buildings so that infrastructure and facilities were ready well before the planned date of commissioning this year.

The CEO said all buildings would be completed by the end of June. The Governor asked B Mohandaas and accompanying engineers to immediately undertake development by taking up landscaping and greening, constructing internal roads and provide other required facilities.

Later, in a meeting, the Governor took a detailed review of the status of the various components of the hospital and allied facilities in a presentation by Dr Bhandari.

The Governor reviewed the latest position with regard to the purchase of medical equipment and medical furniture and asked the CEO to ensure arrangements for the effective maintenance of the state-of-the-art computerised diagnostic and treatment equipment with a view to developing this hospital into an institution of excellence and providing the best possible patient care from the beginning.

Dr Bhandari informed the Governor about the floor-wise status of various diagnostic and treatment facilities being set up in this 230-bedded hospital, which would have more than 20 streams of medicine and surgery, including cardiology, cardio-thoracic surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, nephrology, urology, oncology, pulmonology, bone marrow transplant, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, trauma medicine, paediatrics and neonatology, obstetrics and gynaecology.
