Governor seeks report on reforms rolled out in 2016

All administrative secretaries in the state have been asked to provide a comprehensive report of the implementation of the decisions taken during Governor’s rule in 2016.

“All administrative secretaries are requested to review the status of implementation of the decisions/announcements made during Governor’s rule in 2016,” read a communication to all heads of the departments by Governor NN Vohra.

The administrative secretaries have been asked to submit their reports to the General Administrative Department by June 25.

Vohra rolled out several reforms during his two-month rule in 2016 while gearing up the administration to expedite decision-making on issues concerning the public.

Earlier, Governor’s rule was imposedafter the death of Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed on January 7. It continued up to April 4, 2016, when Mehbooba Mufti took over.

The Governor-headed State Administrative Council in 2016 had cleared disbursement of financial assistance to Kashmir’s flood victims. It had also directed the officials to expedite the dredging of the Jhelum.

During a meeting with top Army commanders in March 2016, the Governor had directed them to vacate the Toto Ground at Batamaloo, which hasn’t been done as yet. He had also issued directions to resolve the problems of solid waste management in Srinagar.

Vohra had also ordered termination of services of 100 doctors, who were unauthorisedly absent for several years, and advertised the vacant posts to expedite the process of enhancing quality human resource in the health sector. The free drug policy was also given the go-ahead while amendments were made in J&K Medical Education (Gazetted) Service Recruitment Rules. The Governor had also approved the self-attestation policy that didn’t require people to run after gazetted officers to get their documents attested.
