Chief Minister Mehbooba on Sunday appealed to the imams and ulema to come forward and help the younger generation by showing them the right path as practised and preached by the leading Sufi saint and preacher Hazrat Ameer-e-Kabeer Mir Syed Ali Hamdani.
She made this appeal while speaking at a seminar — ‘Shah-i-Hamdan — The savior of our soul’.
“I appeal to the imams and ulema to come forward and help the younger generation by showing them the right path as practised and preached by Hazrat Shah-i-Hamdan. Unfortunately, the Muslim ummah around the world has been caught in a web of violence and it is the utmost responsibility of the religious scholars to help society from getting drifted on to a wrong track,” she said.
“You should debate why the whole Muslim community is getting caught in violence and why are we leaving areas such as education, public welfare and community service on which thrust has been laid in Islam and which is amply reflected in the philosophy of Hazrat Ameer-e-Kabeer,” she said in her address.
Mehbooba stressed the need for reviving the teachings of Hazrat Ameer-e-Kabeer, saying that these held the key to many of the issues confronting the humanity in the present day world.
She said it was satisfying to note that despite the turmoil of the past 30 years or so, the local economy had sustained predominantly because of the handicraft sector introduced here by Hazrat Ameer-e-Kabeer and his companions. She said since then the state was acclaimed for its skill and workmanship the world over and its people for their intelligence.
