Governor NN Vohra inaugurated a seminar-cum-workshop for civil services aspirants at Abhinav Theatre here today. The seminar was jointly organised by the Youth Hostels Association of India and the ASCENT Group.

The Governor observed that in the context of the growing competitive environment, the youth of J&K should aspire to be the best and achieve success on all fronts and not merely in the civil services. He said the world was witnessing growing competition in every arena of activity and our youth faced the challenge of being more competent, efficient and reliable.

The Governor, however, stressed the need for the youth to look beyond the civil services to the numerous opportunities of self-employment and entrepreneurship.

Lauding the talents of the youth of the state, the Governor observed that given the required opportunities and a conducive environment, they had the capability of achieving excellent results in every arena. He urged the youth to spare no effort to fully develop their capabilities, participate in every all-India and state competitive exam and secure the best results.

The Governor noted that despite the difficulties faced in the past years, our youth were coming up well and there had been a progressive increase in the number of our students who were getting selected for various all-India services, Central services and defence services every year.

He observed that concerted efforts for enlarging awareness about various opportunities in the country and sound guidance would enable our youth to achieve outstanding results. He exhorted the youth to explore the wonderful career opportunities now available all over the world and work hard to achieve their goals.

He lauded the efforts of the state universities in providing able guidance to aspirants of civil services through the centres run by them. He wished bright career ahead to the aspirants and reiterated that well-planned and sustained hard work would enable them to gain success not merely in the civil services but also in all prestigious exams for admission to institutions of learning.

He complimented Mohammad Shafi Pandit for providing guidance to students of J&K for achieving their career goals.
