JU holds lecture on leadership challenges in combat situation

JAMMU: A lecture on ‘leadership challenges in combat situations’ was organised by the International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICCCR & HRM), University of Jammu, here today.

A lecture on ‘leadership challenges in combat situations’ was organised by the International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICCCR & HRM), University of Jammu, here today.

The resource person was Major Gen Naresh Badhani (retd). Major General Badhani is an Army veteran with more than 37 years of experience in the areas of human resource management, training and disaster management as well as security and related issues.

The lecture was organised with the objective of understanding leadership from many perspectives and connecting lessons learnt from the Army to personal and professional life scenarios.

In his address, General Badhani reflected upon various personal experiences in the Army, especially challenging and combat situations wherein the pragmatic role of the leader was significant to contribute to the society and nation at large.

He discussed various strategic leadership domains along with determining how adverse situations need to be tackled and strategic decisions need to be incorporated.

While throwing light upon the essential leadership qualities, he deliberated upon the need for leaders to indulge in the entire organisation matrix to ensure optimal performance by all in challenging environments.

General Badhani also explained how trust, bonhomie, overt and covert behaviours, transparency, knowledge, conduct and organisational citizenship of the leader could truly make a difference to the functioning of the organisation.
