Srinagar, June 25
As the BJP and Opposition members sparred over the slapping of the Public Safety Act (PSA) on the person involved in the temple desecration in Jammu, the government today said a medical board would examine the accused to confirm whether he was a lunatic.
Minister for Law and Justice, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan said this in the state Assembly today while responding to the issue raised by RS Pathania of the BJP. The minister said the accused was in police custody and the District Magistrate had to see on what grounds he was going to impose the PSA. The BJP member argued that it was not a case of a lunatic and sought stern action against the accused of the temple desecration in Jammu, which triggered tension recently. —TNS
