Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday blamed the previous PDP-BJP coalition government for the deteriorating security situation in the state and said conditions had changed drastically since he left the chair in 2014.

“I ask the Governor to bring back the peace in the state which was there from 2009 to 2014 when I was the CM. Since I left and late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed took over, the situation has completely changed,” said Omar.

The National Conference (NC) vice-president was addressing a party workers’ meeting at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan here.

“We have been telling for the past two years that the PDP-BJP government has failed, but now when their own men have opened a front against them, both these parties are trying to hide behind excuses,” the former CM said.

“Few weeks ago when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in the state, Mehbooba Mufti was praising him as the only PM who has done remarkably well for J&K, but once out of power, she says the PM should have reserved one inch out of his 56-inch chest for J&K,” Omar said.

He said not a single region of the state got justice under the “incompetent” PDP-BJP government.

In an open attack on BJP national president Amit Shah, he said, “After pulling out from the government, Amit Shah talked of ‘azadi’ from two families — the Abdullahs and the Muftis. In 2014, PM Modi also talked about it, but later joined hands with Mufti Sayeed.”

The former CM said the situation in the state hadn’t improved even after imposing the Governor rule. “New Delhi might be seeing improvement in situation after imposition of the Governor rule, but I cansee only bloodshed,” Omar told mediapersons.
