Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) senior vice-president Sham Lal Sharma has stressed on the need for more initiatives for the welfare and rehabilitation of physically challenged people, so that they can lead a dignified life.
Speaking at a function organised by the J&K Disabled Welfare Association to mark World Disability Day at Akhnoor, Sharma said, “Only government efforts are not adequate to address the issues of disabled people but the entire society has to work for their uplift. They have equal rights to live and progress in society. This can be done with the support of all sections.”
He said the state and Central governments must pay due attention to the people with disabilities and allocate resources as well as make policies to support and ensure their rights, helping to promote their socio-economic development.
On the occasion J&K Disabled Welfare Association chairman Sushil Sharma expressed his resentment against the BJP-PDP government for not giving due attention to their genuine and long-pending demands.
