Forming an alliance with the BJP might have been a compulsion for the PDP but on Twitter, the people followed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti mostly include BJP leaders.
Of the 56 people Mehbooba Mufti follows on Twitter, 20 are from the BJP, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah. Apart from that, she follows BJP leaders and ministers like Ram Madhav, Sushma Swaraj, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman and others. There are three Government of India pages whom she follows and one account of the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan. However, from her own party, Mehbooba follows just two leaders.
The Chief Minister follows only three Congressmen which include Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and former Union Minister Shahshi Tharoor. Some other Chief Ministers are also in her list, which include Nitish Kumar from Bihar, Naveen Patnaik from Odisha, Arvind Kejriwal from Delhi and Mamata Banerjee from West Bengal. She has over 55 thousands followers on the social networking site.
From Jammu and Kashmir, she only follows a couple of Cabinet colleagues — PDP’s Imran Raza Ansari and Sajad Lone of the Peoples Conference. She also follows her adviser and PDP leader Amitabh Mattoo and Director General of Police SP Vaid.
Mehbooba also follows eight journalists and writers but none is from the state. She only follows two media organisations belonging to J&K — Greater Kashmir and Rising Kashmir. Others who are in her list include Pakistani politician Imran Khan, Malala Yousafzai, Kailash Satyarthi, Lt Gen (retd) Ata Hasnain, a few state government portals and her party’s official page.
