Jammu, December 17

The Jammu Sahodaya School Complex (JSSC), an apex body of the schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in the state, has decided to observe a week-long mourning in all institutions as a mark of respect for the students of Army Public School, Peshawar, Pakistan, who were massacred by militants on the school premises on December 16.

KCS Mehta, president, JSSC, and Principal, Army Public School, Akhnoor, said, “Yes, all Army Public Schools from today will observe a week-long mourning to pay tributes to the innocent students who were killed by militants,” “There will be no Christmas or New Year celebrations as the whole world is mourning the death of innocent children,” he maintained.

“All Army schools have been informed in this regard, while the other CBSE-affiliated schools will also be intimated shortly. All schools organised special morning assemblies today, wherein a two-minute silence was observed to pay tributes to the deceased. This gruesome act of militants is inhuman and we in one voice condemned the killing of innocent school-going students,” Mehta added.

Six militants of the Tehreek-e-Taliban stormed the Army school in Peshawar, Pakistan, yesterday and shot dead 141 people, 132 of them students, going from classroom to classroom seeking their prey.

A two-minute silence was observed in the classrooms at Army School, Ratnuchak, Principal of the school Sonal Sharma said.

Meanwhile, a two-minute silence was observed during a special morning assembly in Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar. The school is affiliated with the state board. It was followed by lighting of candles. Students of the school termed the act of militants as inhuman.

“The killing of innocent school students by militants shows that how inhuman and they have not heart. It is not only the loss of Pakistan, but also of the world loss. We shall remain united to fight against terrorism, which has crossed all limits now,” said Sunil Saini, a Class X student.

“It is beyond the imagination of everyone in the world what the militants wanted to show by killing innocent schoolchildren,” said Shruti Khajuria, a student. “Pakistan must take stern action against these terrorists, otherwise they will continue to target more innocent students in future also,” she added.

“If the present scenario continues in Pakistan, where militants launch deadly strikes at their will in schools and other educational institutions, the future of the Pakistani youth will be in real danger,” said Balvinder Kaur, Class IX student.

In order to express solidarity with the bereaved families of innocent school students killed in the most heinous massacre in Peshawar, Pakistan, a condolence meet was organised by Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu.

Additional Director and Principal, DPS, Jammu, Dr D Joseph addressed the assembly and expressed grief over the loss of precious lives. A prayer was held, followed by observance of a two-minute silence by students and staff of the school.
