Poet Allama Iqbal remembered

JAMMU: Iqbal Day was celebrated by the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu, at Prof Gian Chand Jain Seminar Hall here on Thursday.



Jammu: Iqbal Day was celebrated by the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu, at Prof Gian Chand Jain Seminar Hall here on Thursday. The programme was presided over by HoD Prof Shohab Inayat Malik. The event began with a patriotic song of Allama Iqbal "Sare Jahan Se Acha Hindustain Humara". A symposium was held on the theme “Relevance of Iqbal's poetry in the present era” wherein 20 students participated. They recited Iqbal's poetry besides paying rich tributes to Allama Iqbal on his 140th birth anniversary. A book written on Iqbal was also displayed. Later, a seminar was organised on the life and works of Allama Iqbal wherein Dr AR Manhas and Dr Chaman lal presented their papers on Allama’s poetry and work. TNS
