Jammu, March 23
National Conference (NC) leader and former MLC Vijay Bakaya on Thursday expressed dismay over the inaction by the Election Commission (EC) with regard to repeated pleas of dispensing with M-Form for migrant voters in Jammu and elsewhere in the country for exercising their democratic right.
Interacting with migrant electors of the Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, which is going for the bypoll next month, Bakaya, who is also the political adviser to National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah, said the party had raised the issue with the Election Commission several times, but nothing has been materialised so far. He said filling up of M-Form was acting as a major damper for the migrant electorate of the Srinagar and Anantnag parliamentary constituencies.
Bakaya urged the Election Commission to abolish the requirement of M-Form for migrant electors so that they exercise their franchise like other voters in the Valley.
The former MLC exhorted voters to cast their votes in favour of the alliance candidates, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Ghulam Ahmed Mir.
“The vote to Farooq Abdullah would be support to the policies and programmes of the National Conference that stands for amity, brotherhood and equal opportunities to all, irrespective of caste, creed or colour,” Bakaya added.
