Portfolios allocated: Mufti keeps Home, Nirmal gets Power, Housing

JAMMU: Two days after the formation of the PDP-BJP coalition regime in Jammu and Kashmir, portfolios were allocated to the newly appointed 24 ministers, 16 Cabinet and eight Ministers of State (MoS).

Two days after the formation of the PDP-BJP coalition regime in Jammu and Kashmir, portfolios were allocated to the newly appointed 24 ministers, 16 Cabinet and eight Ministers of State (MoS).

PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Sunday took oath as Chief Minister along with his Council of Ministers in the newly-formed PDP-BJP coalition government.

The portfolios have been allocated to the ministers as per government order number 267-General Administration Department dated 03-03-2015.

The Chief Minister has retained the important Home Department because it is mentioned in the official order that all other departments/subjects not assigned to any of the ministers shall remain with the Chief Minister.

Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Kumar Singh who belongs to the BJP has been given charge of Power Development and Housing and Urban Development Departments.

Haseeb A Drabu of the PDP has been given charge of Finance Department and will also hold charge of Labour and Employment Department.

Abdul Rehman Veeri, veteran PDP leader and four-time MLA, has been given charge of Horticulture and Haj and Auqaf Departments. Chander Parkash of the BJP has been given the Industries and Commerce Department. Lal Singh of the BJP has been given the Health and Medical Education Department. Javaid Mustafa Mir of the PDP has been given the Revenue Department while his party colleague, Abdul Haq Khan, has been given the important Rural Development Department.

Bali Bhagat, BJP MLA from the Domana Assembly seat, has been given charge of the Social Welfare, Forest, Ecology and Environment Departments. Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari of the PDP has been given charge of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Relief and Rehabilitation Departments.

Chief spokesperson for the PDP Naeem Akhtar has been allocated important Education Department.

Sukhnandan Kumar Choudhary, two-time BJP MLA from Marh, has been given the Public Health Engineering Department. Choudhary Zulfikar Ali of the PDP who belongs to Rajouri district has been given the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs Departments.

Sajjad Gani Lone of the People’s Conference, a BJP ally, has been given charge of the Science and Technology and Animal Husbandry Department.

Ghulam Nabi Lone of the PDP has been given charge of the Agriculture Production Department and his party colleague, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, is the Minister for Public Works, Floriculture and Parks. Imran Raza Ansari has been given charge of the Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports Department.

As far as Ministers of State are concerned, Chering Dorjay, BJP MLC from Leh, has been given independent charge of the Cooperative and MoS Ladakh Affairs.

Abdul Majid Padder of the PDP has been given the Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control, Animal Husbandry and Forest Departments. Sunil Kumar Sharma of the BJP has been given the Public Works (R&B) and Revenue Departments.

Mohammad Ashraf Mir of the PDP has been given charge of the Industries and Commerce, Power Development and Housing and Urban Development Departments.

Abdul Ghani Kohli of the BJP has been given charge of the MoS Transport (Independent Charge), MoS Rural Development and Horticulture. Priya Sethi of the BJP has been given the Information, Education and Culture. Pawan Kumar Gupta has been given the Finance and Information Technology Departments while as Asiea Naqash of the PDP has been given the Health, Social Welfare and Transport Departments.

As already reported, the PDP has got the lion’s share in the Council of Ministers with 11 Cabinet ministers, including the Chief Minister.
