Various organisations celebrated Republic Day by organising functions in Jammu.

The National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) in collaboration with traders of Pacca Danga and shopkeepers of the Rani Park market celebrated the day as “Sankalap Diwas” with enthusiasm and fervour.

Two separate functions were held at Rani Park and Pacca Danga Chowk in which NMC chief Subash Shastri hoisted the national flag. The functions were presided over by prominent social activists Rajinder Kumar and Darshan Singh. A large gathering of people from different walks of life participated in the functions.

Residents of Ward No 21 Gandhi Nagar hoisted the Tricolour at Laxmi Narayan Temple Chowk. Senior BJP leader Indu Bhushan Sharma was the chief guest, who hoisted the Tricolour.

The All J&K Sikh Unity Forum also hoisted the national flag. Convenor of the forum Rajinder Singh unfurled the flag at Simbal Camp. He said young people should follow the path shown by the martyrs of the independence movement, who died for the cause of freedom.

In most of the colonies and markets, people hoisted the national flag to mark the day and pledged to strengthen the nationalist forces in Jammu and Kashmir. Educational institutions had earlier celebrated the day on January 25 on their respective premises.

The Power Grid Northern Region Transmission System-II celebrated Republic Day at Grid Bhawan, Bahu Plaza, with gaiety and enthusiasm. AK Pal, General Manager (Asset Management), NRTS –II, who was the chief guest on the occasion, unfurled the national flag. Senior officials, employees, their families and children were present on the occasion.

In his address, AK Pal gave a brief account of the milestones achieved by the Power Grid in general and NRTS –II in particular. He urged upon the employees to continue to serve the organisation with dedication as it is this quality that has and will continue to be the main factor in the growth of the Power Grid.

A fancy dress show by children, patriotic songs by members of the Mahila Samiti and children of the employees and fun games for employees were organised to mark the occasion. Later, the chief guest gave away prizes to the participants. The vote of thanks was presented by R Narayan, Chief Manager (HR).

Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu, celebrated Republic Day with patriotic fervour here today. The celebrations commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony by Additional Director/Principal Dr D Joseph.

She impressed upon the students to uphold the freedom of the nation, got after many sacrifices. Headmistresses Ruchi Chabra and Meenu Gupta and other school staff were also present on the occasion.

MK Ajatshatru Singh, president, Rajput Charitable Trust, Kunwrani Ritu Singh, Pro-Vice Chairperson, DPS, Jammu, and SS Sodhi, Director, DPS, Jammu, congratulated the students and staff on the occasion. The celebrations ended with the singing of the national anthem. The event was organised by Tawi House.
