SHO among 6 cops killed in ambush by militants in J&K''s Anantnag

SRINAGAR: A Station House Officer was among six policemen killed in an ambush by militants in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday evening. The officer was identified as Feroz Ahmed Dar. The ambush took place at a time when an anti-militancy operation was underway in Kulgam district.

Srinagar, June 16

A Station House Officer was among six policemen killed in an ambush by militants in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday evening.

The officer was identified as Feroz Ahmed Dar.

Police sources said that militants ambushed a police party led by a Station House Officer, Achabal, at Thajiwara Achabal in Anantnag. The ambush also left five policemen critically wounded.

The policemen were travelling in a non-bullet-proof vehicle

“The six cops, including SHO, later succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital,” sources said.

The ambush took place at a time when an anti-militancy operation was underway in Kulgam district.

The Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) later claimed the attack.
