After a lull of about fortnight, the Pakistan army on Saturday morning initiated firing, injuring a soldier in the Nowshera sub-district in Rajouri district. The soldier was airlifted to Command Hospital, Udhampur.
The injured soldier was identified as Sepoy Vineesh, who received splinter injuries on his right leg while manning a forward post in the Kalal sub-sector.
Sources said the Pakistan army initiated heavy weapon firing on the forward post around 7 am. The fire was retaliated effectively and strongly.
Initially, the soldier was provided medical help in the area. Later, he was airlifted to Command Hospital in Udhampur where his condition was said to be stable and out of danger.
Last time, the Pakistan army had resorted to heavy shelling and firing in the Pukhrani sub-sector on Eid in the same area. Rifleman Bikas Gurung of Gorkha unit had attained martyrdom in the incident.
