A girl was killed and another injured in a road accident caused by a stone-throwing incident in Srinagar even as over 20 civilian protesters were injured in clashes in south Kashmir on the 81st day of the current unrest.
The police said a stone-throwing incident led to the death of Fozia and injuries to her sister Nadia when they were hit by a private vehicle being reversed in the Parimpora area on the outskirts of Srinagar.
The driver was reversing his vehicle as it was being stoned by miscreants in Parimpora. The two sisters were critically injured and taken to a hospital, where Fozia (20) succumbed to her injuries.
At least 12 persons were injured, two with pellets, in clashes after the police foiled a protest rally at Kanelwan village in the Beijbehara area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir this afternoon.
Nearly 10 other civilian protesters were injured when they were protesting against the arrest of some youths in Samboora village near Pampore of Pulwama district. Two of them were admitted to a hospital.
Furqan Hamid received injuries in the head when some protesters threw stones at him when he was driving a Scooty in the Eidgah area of Sringaar. He was taken to the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, where his condition was stated to be stable.
