New Delhi, July 11
Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir unit president Ravinder Raina and former Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh on Wednesday met state’s party in charge Ram Madhav on Wednesday to discuss the situation following the imposition of the Governor rule, sources said.
The meeting assumes significance as there were reports of a few Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLAs openly rebelling against the party president and former state Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. These MLAs have also indicated supporting the BJP to form an alternative government, as per the reports.
On June 19, the BJP pulled out of its alliance with the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir. Announcing the decision, Madhav had said it was becoming untenable for the party to continue with its ally in the state. — PTI
