Jammu, March 31

A large number of Class XII students from various schools on Saturday protested against the the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for ordering re-examination in economics on April 25.

Resenting the decision, the students said they were being penalised for the alleged negligence of the CBSE due to which the paper was leaked ahead of the examination. The students said misdeeds of a few persons were proving costly for the students across the country.

The students gathered and raised slogans against the CBSE at the Jewel Chowk. Thereafter, they went towards the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan office, Gandhi Nagar.

The students protested outside the office and burnt tyres. The traffic on the road was severely affected for more than an hour.

The students also blocked traffic at the busy Bikram Chowk, leading to chaos. Later, the students were pacified by the authorities and vehicular movement was resumed by the traffic police.

“Majority of the students had done well in the economics paper but the decision of the CBSE to order re-test is really unfortunate. Now, we have to study again for the exam,” Gourav, a Class XII student, said.

“It is difficult to focus again on the subject. It is not a fair decision by the CBSE,” said Suhani, another Class XII student. — TNS
