The police arrested three alleged drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
The police said two drug peddlers were arrested by policemen deployed at a check-post near a hotel in the city. “They tried to escape from the spot but were overpowered by the police. They were later identified as Ghulam Hassan Kabli and Mohammad Shafi Sheikh of Sonwar. Five kg of cannabis powder was recovered from them,” the spokesman said.
A case has been registered at the Ram Munshi Bagh police station and investigation has been taken up.
Another peddler Shabir Ahmad Ganaie of Tangmarg was arrested by the Khanyar police during checking at Konikhan, Dalgate. “On his search, 125 gm of charas was recovered from his possession. The accused is a habitual drug peddler and sells drugs to youth in Srinagar city,” he said. A case has been registered at the Khanyar police station. — TNS
