Vohra urges students to work hard, utilise facilities

JAMMU: Governor NN Vohra inaugurated Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul Phase-II at Charan Paduka in Katra to provide residential accommodation to students pursuing the ‘Shastri Course’ and their teachers or the ‘acharyas’.

Governor NN Vohra inaugurated Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul Phase-II at Charan Paduka in Katra to provide residential accommodation to students pursuing the ‘Shastri Course’ and their teachers or the ‘acharyas’.

Members of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board SS Bloeria, Ashok Bhan, HL Maini, Justice (retd) Permod Kohli and Maj Gen (retd) Shiv Kumar Sharma, board Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jitendra Kumar Singh, Reasi Deputy Commissioner, senior officials of the district administration and police, members of the governing council for Gurukul were present at the inaugural function.

The Governor complimented Bloeria and Maini for their sustained efforts which enabled the completion of the project within the envisaged time frame.

He went around the hostel block and acharya block, viewed the facilities provided therein and emphasised the need for an effective day-to-day maintenance of all facilities, particularly the toilets, and enhancing the green cover in the complex.

The Governor interacted with students and acharyas. He advised students to work hard and avail optimum benefit from the state-of-the-art facilities, highly qualified faculty and other requisite logistics provided by the shrine board for imparting high standard education.

The Gurukul Phase-II comprises a hostel block, acharya block, ‘yagyashalla’ and a temple. YK Mishra, member of the governing council for Gurukul, said the initiative taken by the Governor in establishing the Gurukul would go a long way in the promotion of the Sanskrit language.
