Cent per cent placement at TAPMI

All 391 students of the 2013-2015 batch of students at TA Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal, Karnataka, have got placements in the campus placement initiative. As many as 107 companies from across the country and Abu Dhabi came for campus placements this year. The highest domestic offer at Rs14.55 lakh was by Microsoft and 18 students have received offer letters. This year's placement also included an international company, NMC Healthcare, Abu Dhabi, which hired two students with an annual package of Rs15 lakh.

While Alpa Jain, Ashwin Shetty H, KetanKhope and Tejaswini Radhakrishnan bagged the highest domestic offers Danish Warsi and Sandhya Katela clinched the Abu Dhabi offers. The average take home package was slightly better than last year at Rs8.7 lakh compared with the Rs8.41 last year. According to an official release 41.1 per cent students were hired by the IT-ITES sector with 30 companies taking part; nine companies from the consulting sector hired 15.09 per cent; banking and financial institutions hired 15.34 per cent across 18 companies and the manufacturing sector hired 8.7 per cent of the students across nine companies. The other sectors that were a part of TAPMI's placements included, FMCG, analytics, e-commerce, m-commerce, pharma and healthcare, logistics, telecom and education training.

Automotive research centre launched

Amrita University recently inaugurated the Amrita Automotive Research & Technology Centre (AARTC) — a joint venture between Amrita University and Automotive Test Systems. The Rs 15-crore one-of-its-kind facility established in the university headquarters at Coimbatore was inaugurated by Dr. K. Tamilmani, Director General, Aeronautical Systems.

The centre will assist the automotive industry in areas like vehicle evaluation, vehicle cooling and HVAC Studies, Road Load Data Acquisition, Emission, Simulation — Structural and CFD, Multi body dynamics etc. AARTC along with graduates will also support the M Tech and PhD Students to use this facility for Applied Research and other sustainable technology researches.

Besides building a close rapport with the automotive industry, AARTC will facilitate the Doctoral and PG students of the university to gain hands-on experience by giving them an opportunity to participate in live research projects aimed at developing technologies for the government and industry as well. In its first phase, a 4000 sq. m building has been completed with complete infrastructure for Vehicle Evaluation, Engine Testing and Development and basic NVH facilities. The second phase that is scheduled to be complete by the year end will cover a Hemi-Anechoic room, Reverberation rooms, Listening Studio and complete NVH facilities.

The university is set to launch dual specialisation courses with a package of electives with major and minor options starting next academic year. — TNS
