Psychiatry Dept upgraded to IMH

Dr Vidya Sagar Department of Psychiatry at Pt B.D.Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak, has been upgraded and accorded the status of Institute of Mental Health (IMH). This was formally announced at the inaugural ceremony of the institute organised recently.

Dr Vidya Sagar Department of Psychiatry at Pt B.D.Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak, has been upgraded and accorded the status of Institute of Mental Health (IMH). This was formally announced at the inaugural ceremony of the institute organised recently.

Addressing the gathering, the UHS Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) O.P.Kalra, lauded the iconic contribution of the late Dr Vidya Sagar, the founding father of the department. Quality medical care in mental health would be provided to the patients at the institute, he maintained.

Officiating UHS Registrar Dr M.C.Gupta, PGIMS Director Dr R.K.Gupta, PGIDS Principal Dr Sanjay Tewari and IMH Director-cum-CEO Dr Rajiv Gupta were also present.

CME session on CVM

A wide spectrum of better drugs and devices has emerged from the latest advancements in medical science and technology. Nonetheless, a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular brisk walk, considerably reduce the risk of heart diseases.

This was opined by medical specialists during a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session on Current Medical Practices in Cardio-Vascular Medicine organized by the Haryana Chapter of the Cardiological Society of India and the Department of Medicine at the UHS here recently. 

The experts pointed out that smoking, poor lifestyle and undue mental stress were the major culprits which caused heart diseases even in the country’s young population.

Latest developments in the field of cardiology, lipid guidelines, control of hypertension, new anti-coagulants and anti-diabetic drugs and safety protocols in cardiovascular ailments were discussed by the cardio-medical experts like Prof K.K. Sethi, Dr. T.S. Kler, Dr Raman Puri, Dr Aditya Batra, Dr Saibel Mukherjee, Dr Rajesh Rajput.
